Smoked Soy Curls

OK. This will seem like no big deal to you veggies, however, this will be a stretch for meat eaters. While it needs a new name, these amazing "strips" mimic chicken and make a great BBQ smoked main. 


 

Ingredients.

  • 8 oz bag of Butler Soy Curls or other Non-GMO Soy Curls

  • 2 tablespoons Pure Grit Rub

  • Mustard

  • Pure Grit BBQ Sauce

Prep.

  1. Place one bag of soy curls in a bowl and cover with water. Soak for 10 minutes.

  2. Drain excess water from soy curls using a colander and let sit for another 10 minutes.

  3. Toss the soy curls in mustard and then coat in the rub, making sure all the soy curls are covered.

Note: Smoking times and temperatures will vary based on your smoking method, equipment, etc.

Cooking.

SMOKER

Temp: 225° | Time: 1 hour | Woods: Hickory, Alder, Apple

OVEN SMOKER BAG

Temp: 475° for 10 minutes then 375° for 30-60 min  | Time: 40-70 minutes
Woods:
Hickory, Alder, Mesquite

Spray the inside of the bag with cooking spray.

These bags can also be used on any grill or over a campfire.

STOVE TOP SMOKER

Temp: Medium heat  | Time: 20-30 minutes | Woods: Hickory, Alder, Apple

For easy clean up and to prevent sticking, consider lining the drip tray and spraying the grate.

REGULAR OVEN

Temp: 375° | Time: 30 minutes

It’s also possible to use your regular oven or stove (times and temps vary). But, using a smoker or smoker bag will yield a more authentic smokey, BBQ flavor.

Finish.

Finish on the stove in a hot skillet with Pure Grit BBQ sauce. These are also great with The Hot Stuff.

Serve.

Serve with mashed sweet potatoes, The Baked Beans and a Pure Grit Waffle or bun. Throw the leftovers in and on anything.
